You said it, so we’ve done it. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts in the recent Student Survey. Watch the video above to see the actions we’re taking based on the results.

How can AAT help students adapt to introduce AI into their studies?

Students told us AI was becoming impossible to ignore but many still felt uncertain about whether it was useful, safe or relevant to learning and teaching.

You said: give us space to talk openly about AI and how it can support learning, rather than dismissing it as a passing trend.

We did: built AI into our student conference because the topic was front of mind globally and students were already asking for it in other sessions.

We did: extended the conversation to both the Student Conference and Training Provider Conference, with sessions led by Ellis Harris-Kijak FMAAT.

We focused on moving people beyond fear, scepticism and “AI bandwagon” concerns in dedicated workshops by showing the real value AI can bring to studying, teaching and learner support during their AAT qualification. Before the student session, 58% of participants felt positive about using AI; afterwards, this rose to 81% feeling more positive about using AI to support their learning.

The sessions helped students and tutors become more receptive to AI and recognise the practical value it can bring to learning and support.

How can AAT help students boost employer relationships?

Students told us they want stronger links with employers and clearer routes from learning into real opportunities. We have listened, and we are taking practical action to open more doors.

You said: you want more opportunities to connect, especially with employers.

We did: our UK Business Development team is proactively engaging new businesses to create more opportunities for students, including apprenticeships.

Since 1 April, these employer relationships have created 166 new job opportunities! We are also increasing employer awareness of the Careers Hub so more roles are posted directly to the AAT community.

How can AAT help students improve their community connection?

Students said they want stronger peer connections, practical support and more ways to feel part of the AAT community. We have turned this feedback into clear actions.

You said: help create more opportunities for us to connect.

We did: we are building micro-communities that cut across sectors and disciplines, enabling members to build likeminded connections and get peer to peer support. At the moment we have a Practice Owner community and a Bookkeeper Community.

Silent Study and Learner Lounge sessions provide regular online study and peer support to help students stay motivated and connected and these continue to be popular among students.

Our February 2027 online student conference will focus on study support, career progression and motivation, with career support webinars running in August.

We’re also launching a formal advocacy programme is in July, making it easier to get involved and advocate for AAT if you want to share your story. Our online discussion forums, including threads on regulatory changes such as MTD, have also been refreshed.
